Katelyn, MSW, RSW

  • In partnership we will explore your experiences and build a personalized care approach that is tailored to your individual needs. My care work aims at establishing a collaborative and safe(r) therapeutic space together, while disrupting and undermining the various oppressive systems that impact our collective and individual mental wellness experiences. Regardless of whatever issue is affecting your wellbeing, whether it be grief, disordered eating, relationship breakdowns, social isolation, anxiety, depression, trauma, or burnout, I am here to support you in creating routes to comfort and positive change.

As a practitioner and person, I believe each of us holds the answers to our own growth and development journey. Finding the support, time, and space, to move through what burdens us, and connect to our core selves more wholeheartedly is central to my work. I recognize this can be a challenge in our current society and context. This understanding is what drives my commitment to ongoing learning, training, and personal healing in order to provide effective and connected care to the clients I support. I believe connection and co-regulation are integral to healing work, and would be honored to guide you in this process.

My Story

I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from York University in Toronto, and an honours undergraduate degree in Public Affairs and Policy Management with a specialization in Human Rights from Carleton University.

For the past 12 years my work has focused on providing nonjudgmental, accessible, and personalized support to individuals who have experienced multifaceted barriers based on systemic oppression, mental health challenges, Disability, trauma, and grief. My social service career expands a variety of contexts. This includes healthcare and hospital settings, youth program design and facilitation, community development, as well advocacy work.  Throughout my career I have witnessed the need for more social workers and community advocates that are rooted in supporting anti-colonial, collaborative, and reflexive approaches to social work using neurodivergent affirming, anti-racist, queer-allied and informed, anti-ableist, and survivor/trauma informed perspectives.

My lived experiences have equipped me with a strong foundation from which I have built a care and compassion focused therapeutic approach that is ever evolving and developing as I continue to grow and learn. I am passionate about continued education, and a devoted lifelong learner.

I am a registered social worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers, as well as the Ontario Association of Social Workers.

“Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.”
